Learn more about Proposition 28 funding and how our district plans to enhance art education in our schools.

Del Norte Unified School District is dedicated to fostering a rich and diverse educational experience for all students. Recently, the district received funding through Proposition 28 to further enhance arts education across all schools within our district. To shed light on how this funding will be utilized strategically and its impact on our students, we sat down with Thomas Kissinger, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services.

When asked about the district's plan for utilizing Proposition 28 funding, Mr. Kissinger emphasized the collaborative effort between staff and educational partners to tailor plans to each school's unique needs. Following the creation of individualized plans, they are submitted to the district office for approval, with each school receiving funding allocations based on prior year enrollment and eligibility for free or reduced meals

One of the remarkable aspects of Proposition 28 funding, Kissinger noted, is its sustainability. Unlike one-time grants, this funding is secured annually through voter approval, providing a consistent source of support for years to come. This stability enables the district to not only enhance existing programs but also introduce new opportunities, such as theater arts at middle schools and expanded music instruction at elementary schools.

In conclusion, Mr. Kissinger reaffirms support for ongoing efforts to enhance arts education, highlighting the district's commitment to cultivating a vibrant arts community that enriches every student's life. Through a shared vision and collaborative spirit, Del Norte Unified School District aims to foster a rich and diverse educational experience for all.
